2024 LOAD ANALYSIS: ISOs increase 2033 forecasted net energy load by 27% with PJM and ERCOT surging
NPM have compared the FERC Form 714 submissions for 2023 and 2024 from ERCOT, ISO-NE, MISO, NYISO, PJM and SPP.
We see across the six analyzed ISO/RTOs that, combined, they are now predicting 3,894,010 GWh of annual energy load, up 27% from 3,065,922 GWh forecasted in the 2023 report. We selected the 2033 date as it is the furthest date present in the 10-year forecasts of the 2023 and 2024 reports. There is a 5-month lag in the publishing of these 10-year forecasts by each balancing authority to FERC.
These increases are particularly drastic in ERCOT and PJM where they have increased their forecast for 2033 by 84% and 27% respectively.
The accompanying graphs demonstrate these forecast changes across the 6 studied ISO/RTOs.The underlying Signals data is accessible here to NPMData Centers content subscribers only. Contact help@newprojectmedia.com or your Customer Success Manager to discuss.
