FRANCE: Suez awarded EUR 120.2m renewable electricity supply contract by RATP

Paris transport operator RATP has signed a EUR 120.2m PPA with Suez RV France for the long-term supply of renewable electricity to its operations and subsidiaries.

The contract covers the production and delivery of 100 GWh per year (±10%) of renewable electricity.

It will run for a firm term of 10 years from January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2035, with two optional extensions of 36 months each, bringing the potential total duration to 16 years.

Electricity will be sourced from one or more renewable energy parks located in France. These must demonstrate additionality, either through new greenfield developments or repowered brownfield assets.

All facilities must maintain an availability rate above 95%, excluding scheduled maintenance, and energy traceability mechanisms will be used to verify the origin of the supplied electricity.

The PPA will be structured with baseload characteristics and priced on a fixed-rate basis with an attached indexation formula.

RATP had previously indicated a preference for offers below EUR 80 per MWh when the tender launched in 2024.

The procurement process attracted 16 bids and was conducted under a competitive negotiation procedure. Offers were evaluated based on price (70% weighting) and qualitative performance (30% weighting).

Suez was contacted for comment.
