Alpiq is understood to have submitted an offer for UK-based developer Harmony Energy.
Harmony Energy’s stakeholders started working on a sale of a stake in the business late last year. Alpiq is believed to have lodged its offer in recent weeks.
The Swiss energy trader has already acquired a pair of BESS projects from Harmony in France, most recently in January announcing the purchase of the now operational 100 MW / 200 MWh Cheviré battery energy storage facility in the port area of Nantes Saint‑Nazaire.
It previously acquired the 100 MW / 200 MWh Marronniers BESS project in the L’Oise department from Harmony in autumn 2024.
“We are currently in active discussions regarding bringing further funding into our business to help accelerate our development pipeline, these continue and as soon as we are able to say more, we will do,” a spokesperson for Harmony said, while declining to comment on Alpiq’s mooted interest.
However, market sources close to Alpiq say the group is actively evaluating topco acquisitions currently.
Harmony’s total project pipeline stands at over 12 GW, according to its website.
However, its late stage pipeline across the UK and continental Europe is believed to be more in the 2GW – 3 GW range.
The group has been particularly active in recent quarters developing projects in France, Germany and Poland.
Alpiq declined to comment.
