GERMANY: German wind and hybrid auctions oversubscribed as 2.5 GW and 482 MW awarded at lower prices, developers revealed

Germany has awarded 2.5 GW of onshore wind capacity and 482 MW of hybrid solar‑plus‑storage projects in its latest auction rounds held on 1 May 2026.
The results, published by the Federal Network Agency (BNetzA) on 25 June 2026, indicate continued strong competition across both tenders.
The onshore wind auction offered 2.495 GW of capacity and received a total of 628 bids with a combined volume of 6.409 GW.
Contracts were awarded to 270 projects at award prices ranging between EUR 44.40 /MWh and EUR 51.9 /MWh.
The volume‑weighted average price fell to EUR 50.60 /Wh from EUR 55.40 /MWh in the previous round.
Winning onshore wind bidders include ABO Energy, Agrowea, Alterric, enercity, Enertrag, Enova, European Energy, Eurowind, e-regio, Juwi, LEAG, Max Bögl, MLK Consulting, PNE, Prokon, Qualitas Energy, RWE, Sabowind, Trianel, Volksbank, VSB, WB Energy, and WPD, among others.
The largest volumes were awarded in Lower Saxony with 628 MW across 70 projects, while Brandenburg followed with 468 MW across 47 projects, and North Rhine‑Westphalia secured 353 MW across 31 projects.
The innovation auction offered 475 MW of capacity in total and 46 bids were submitted with a combined volume of 749 MW.
Contracts were awarded to 27 solar-plus-BESS projects with a total capacity of 482 MW at award prices ranging from EUR 47.50 /MWh to EUR 56.10 /MWh.
The average volume‑weighted award price stood at EUR 53.40 /MWh.
Innovation tender winners include Denker & Wulf, Enerparc, and Sunnic Lighthouse, among others.
Bavaria accounted for the largest share of awarded volumes with 287 MW across 15 projects.
Further auction rounds are scheduled, with the next onshore wind tender set for 1 August 2026 and the next innovation tender planned for 1 September 2026.
