Utility-scale renewables developer Diverxia is planning an around 100 MW solar farm in Visayas for its debut project in the Philippines, New Project Media can reveal.
The Spanish firm has already secured a land agreement for the project and is in talks with Cinag Power for a potential partnership which could include EPC services, according to sources. Diverxia is expected to retain 100% ownership of the asset.
The planned solar farm would be Diverxia’s first project in the Philippines following the company’s entry into the country in Q1 2026.
The group is the latest foreign developer to take an interest in the Philippines following the government’s amendment of the Renewable Energy Act of 2008, which allows foreign entities to fully own solar and wind projects.
Masdar, Sembcorp Industries, and ACWA Power are among other international developers that have entered or expanded in the country’s renewable energy market over the past two years.
The country is also accelerating renewables development through the Green Energy Auction Program, a government-backed offtake mechanism to encourage large-scale renewables capacity from private developers.
Diverxia, the renewable energy subsidiary of Grupo Alonso, maintains a portfolio focused on photovoltaic development in Spain and Latin America. The company has developed 1.5 GW of capacity over the last two decades and currently manages a pipeline exceeding 6 GW.
Diverxia and Cinag Power declined to comment.
