The Jupiter Power sales process has launched, NPM has learned.

Teasers for the process, Project Lavaca, were distributed to investors.

The process is run by Barclays and Morgan Stanley.

The battery energy storage IPP has 5.1 GW / 16.8 GWh operating, under construction and contracted portfolio.

It also has a 500 MW / 2.9 GWh build-transfer portfolio, and 1.4 GW / 8.7 GWh of additional build-transfer opportunities pending 2H26 decisions.

Separately, it also has a 4 GW / 16 GWh near-term ready-to-contract portfolio with dedicated equipment.

All 2027-to-2029 projects have long-term contracted revenues, FEOC-compliant and tariff-protected domestic supply secured through Tier 1 equipment procurement and safe harbor strategies.

Like other BESS builders, Jupiter Power started off in Texas, but has significantly expanded its remit in the past two years winning PPAs for its 700 MW Trimount ESS project in Massachusetts, getting selected in round 1 of the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (BPU) solicitation with its 200 MW Woods Landing project in Middlesex County, New Jersey, amongst other geographies.

This past June, the Public Service of Oklahoma (PSO) got approval from state regulators on a USD 1.2bn plan that includes a trio of six-hour battery projects being developed by Jupiter.

In addition, Jupiter Power indicated it had executed a 20-year toll with a major hypers-scaler to meet its data center capacity requirements in PJM and is currently discussing two additional tolls and future opportunities with the same party.

Separately, the company is in talks with other data center parties for projects across SPP, MISO and ERCOT.

NPM reported on September 14 that Barclays had been engaged to run a sales process.

NPM Interconnection queue data is tracking over 9 GW of projects under development by Jupiter Power including eight projects, across 1.21 GW, that reached an advanced stage in the 12 months ending in May 2026.

Blackrock Alternatives struck a deal to acquire Jupiter Power from an EnCap Investments-led consortium in a deal announced in November 2022 after being founded originally in 2017.

Demand for BESS projects has exploded in recent years, not only by federal tax incentives that survived post-OBBBA, but also as data centers and utilities alike continue to seek BESS projects, not only as cheaper and cleaner alternatives to gas peakers, but also to balance intermittent solar and onshore wind generation.

Funds managed by Blackstone Energy Transition Partners struck a deal earlier this summer to sell Aypa Power at USD 7bn enterprise value and USD 3bn equity value to Brookfield.

Similar jumbo infrastructure vehicles and strategics such as NextEra and Invenergy were also expected to look at Jupiter Power, amongst other platforms on the market.

Jupiter Power and its sponsor Blackrock did not return calls seeking comment.
