GERMANY: DAH Gruppe seals deal for UDI biomethane quartet

DAH Gruppe has agreed to acquire a four-strong portfolio of operational biomethane assets in Germany from Chemnitz-based investor UDI, it is understood.

The Igneo Infrastructure Partners-backed platform is conducting the deal as part of an acquisitive period for the company over recent quarters.

Wealth Collect-owned UDI operates four biomethane facilities as part of a wider bioenergy portfolio featuring older biogas plants.

Each of the biomethane feed-in sites, which together have a thermal capacity of around 27 MW, produce 550-700 standard cubic metres per hour and came online between 2015 and 2018.

The UDI portfolio is located at Erdeborn (Saxony-Anhalt), Raitzen (Saxony), Thierbach (Saxony) and Torgelow (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania) and is currently managed directly by an in-house team.

The wider 42.5 MW portfolio operated by the group, which also includes the biogas plants, required a total investment of circa EUR 100m to bring online.

Meanwhile, DAH has recently added multiple other plants to its portfolio, including the 11.35 MW Ottersberg biogas facility in Lower Saxony, which was acquired from developer BENAS Biogasanlage in late 2024.

That deal was followed by the purchase of the Wallhausen biogas plant in Saxony-Anhalt from WM Agrar which has approval to be converted to a 40m kWh per year biomethane production asset.

DAH in October 2024 closed a circa EUR 250m topco debt raise which is being used to convert a batch of projects from biogas to biomethane production, as well as to finance bolt-on acquisitions.

The current acquisition is subject to approval by regulatory authorities.

DAH and UDI were contacted for comment.
