GERMANY: Lower Saxony biofuels project launching circa EUR 200m capital raise
German eFuel One, a project to develop and build the first e-methanol to biofuels project in Germany is this week expected to circulate teasers for the first stage of a circa EUR 200m equity and debt raise.
The consortium behind the scheme is aiming to build a new facility with the capacity to produce 75m litres of synthetic gasoline – such as is currently mixed into E10 petrol found at consumer refuelling pumps – each year once operational.
In a bid to expedite the plans, an initial equity raise will now be held over the coming two to three months, with a complementary debt raise expected to follow shortly in its wake.
Potential investors are expected to submit their initial feedback on the process by the start of February, with due diligence completion and the opening of a data room expected to follow in late February and early March, respectively.
The resulting investment will be made at platform-level, it is understood, but the bulk of the focus will be on funding the initial biofuels facility located near Steyerberg, Lower Saxony.
Commissioning of the asset is pencilled in for Q4 2027 and the developer is touting long-term purchase agreements with automotive and shipping groups as a key component of the plans.
Green electricity will be sourced from wind and solar plants in the area, while the Steyerberg installation will use CAC Methafuel technology from Chemnitz-based EPC CAC Engineering.
German eFuel One is understood as being advised on the current transaction by Deloitte and Eight Advisory (both financial).
The developer and advisers were contacted for comment.
