Solar developer Circal is in talks with a number of datacentre providers over a framework PPA that will be signed by the end of December 2026 to support part of its solar PV portfolio.

The deal will encompass supply from either one project or a portfolio of projects due to be delivered in Ireland in 2027 and 2028.

Circal has nine Irish projects of approximately 150 MW each in advanced development.

It is understood to currently be lining up a financial advisor to support in the debt raise for a 140 MW project over the coming months.

Solar projects in Ireland have in recent quarters had a rough all-in cost in the EUR 800,000 / MW range, signifying a debt raise in the region of EUR 90m at leverage levels of 80%.

Under Ireland’s new Large Energy Users connection policy, published in December 2025, datacentres of 1 MVA or more must source at least 80% of their annual energy demand from renewable sources, with a six-year runway to compliance.
