IRELAND: Greencoat Renewables, Schroders Greencoat form data centre platform; Drogheda 36 MW first project
Greencoat Renewables has formed a digital infrastructure platform focused on supplying power to data centres and other large energy users.
The platform is a 50:50 joint venture with Schroders Greencoat’s SCSL Global Energy Infrastructure vehicle and will invest in projects in Ireland and other European markets where grid access, land and energy infrastructure are already in place.
The platform’s first investment is Drogheda Energy Park, located at the former Premier Periclase industrial site in Drogheda, County Louth, around 40 km north of Dublin.
It has planning progress for an initial 36 MW data centre and plans to supply power through renewable PPAs, in line with Ireland’s Large Energy‑Users Action Plan.
The brownfield site, next to Drogheda Port, is planned as an energy park with on‑site generation, storage and grid services.
