ITALY: Equitix eyes part sale of biomethane platform
Equitix is looking to bring a co-investor into its Italian biogas and biomethane platform, it is understood.
The UK fund manager entered the Italian bioenergy space in late 2022 with the purchase of the Enerfarm portfolio from Ladurner Ambiente and Ladurner Group (Ladurner Enviro).
The Enerfarm portfolio at the time of the acquisition comprised five biogas plants and a fertiliser production plant located across Northern Italy, capable of producing 5 MW of electricity, with Equitix planning to expand capacity and convert output to bio-LNG.
Equitix is understood to have mandated Rothschild & Co to advise on the transaction, although the transaction has not yet launched.
Proceeds from the proposed equity selldown would be used to complete the conversion of the biogas fleet into biomethane and for other related development expenditure, it is believed.
The investor may opt to start a first round of bidding before the summer break, or wait until September, according to market sources.
Equitix did not respond to a request for comment.
