Williams Companies is preparing to seek state approval for a new behind-the-meter power project in central Ohio, filing notice that it plans to build the Neo Power Generation Facility in Jersey Township, Licking County, as a 500 MW simple-cycle natural gas plant paired with a 260 MW battery energy storage system.
In a pre-application notification letter to the Ohio Power Siting Board dated May 20, Williams unit Will-Power OH LLC said it intends to file a formal certificate application in June.
The company said construction is expected to begin in 1Q27, with commercial operations targeted for 2Q28. Williams also said it will hold public information meetings on June 10 and June 17 in New Albany.
Williams has already been active in Ohio with similar behind-the-meter developments tied to Meta. The company filed an amended application in March for its Apollo Power Generation Facility in Wood County, a 350 MW simple-cycle gas plant with a 678 MWh battery system designed to serve an adjacent Meta data center campus near Bowling Green.
Williams previously secured approvals for the Socrates South and Socrates North gas-fired facilities in New Albany, both intended to serve Meta data center operations there.
