PPA: NextEra signs 2.5 GW of clean power for Meta’s US data center operations
NextEra Energy Resources and Meta Platforms have signed approximately 2.5 GW of clean energy contracts through 11 power purchase agreements (PPAs) and two energy storage agreements (ESAs) to support Meta’s data center operations and its goal of matching operations with 100% clean energy, according to a press release.
The portfolio includes 2.1 GW of solar capacity across nine projects in ERCOT, SPP and MISO, plus 190 MW of solar and 168 MW of battery storage from four projects in Valencia and De Baca counties, New Mexico, supporting the PNM system under Rate 36B.
In total, 13 projects are expected to come online between 2026 and 2028, building on nearly 500 MW of existing Meta-supported projects.
NPM Interconnection queue data identified 109 pre-operational solar projects that NextEra has under development in ERCOT, SPP and MISO, of which 30 projects across 5.68 GW reached an advanced phase.
NextEra has an operational paired project, Skyranch Solar, comprised of 190 MW solar and 50 MW storage in Valencia County, New Mexico.
