ROMANIA: Sol Renewables launches sales process for several hundred-MW PV and BESS pipeline

Romanian developer Sol Renewables has launched the sale of a four-strong pipeline of solar and battery storage projects in Romania, for which it will aim to conclude onward sales at ready-to-build stage, it is understood.

The group has appointed Blu Capital Partners to act as sell-side adviser on the deal and teasers have now been circulated to would-be investors.

The portfolio includes the 200 MW Mag 1 hybrid PV plus BESS, the 365 MW / 1,460 MWh Mag 2 battery facility, the 74MW PV and 49 MW / 196 MWh BESS Seica Mare project, and the 48.3 MW / 193.2 MWh Vidra storage scheme. The capacity for the battery component sited at Mag 1 will be left to the incoming investor’s preference.

Sol Renewables is understood to be considering both individual project sales as well as a full disposal of the portfolio to a single buyer.

Each of the four projects have land secured and most of the required studies have been undertaken., while all but Mag 1 requires grid connection permits and all have building permits outstanding.

However, the seller is confident all of the remaining items will be received by Q1 2026, at which point the assets will be handed over to the chosen investor. COD for the full portfolio is expected by 2027.

Non-binding offers for the pipeline will fall due in late June 2025, it is understood, with binding offers pencilled in for August, ahead of a September signing and closing.

Sol Renewables was established in 2022 and has to date sold three shovel-ready PV sites in Romania and is currently developing a circa 1.1 GW pipeline of solar and storage.
