ROMANIA: Sol Renewables progresses 200 MW PV plant, plots future sale

Romanian developer Sol Renewables has secured a connection agreement for a new 200 MW PV project, and will now bid to further progress the asset towards shovel-ready status by Q3 2025.

The development, located near Sibiu in the centre of the country, was submitted for a so-called Aviz Tehnic de Racordare (ATR) almost three years ago and has now been granted the connection by operator Transelectrica to link to an existing 400KV line in the area.

The grid offer is also being provided without the need for network reinforcements, which should speed up delivery of the solar farm while also keeping additional costs down.

Sol Renewables is also understood to have recently secured more land for the project and is working on a slight redesign as a result.

However, the group expects to launch a sale of the asset in around two months.

Sol in summer 2024 did the same for an 11.6 MW portfolio of PV plants in Romania which had also secured grid agreements.
