SPAIN: ACS acquires 500 MW renewable portfolio from Ignis for digital infrastructure

ACS has acquired over 500 MW of renewable energy projects in Spain from Ignis, through full ownership and joint ventures with Ignis and Vortex Energy, to power its data centres.

The assets will supply power to ACS’s data centre projects, including a facility in Alcalá de Henares (Madrid) developed with Arcano, which has a guaranteed 50 MW energy supply.

The acquisition includes Ignis Data Kappa (137 MW self-consumption rights) and Ignis Data Gamma (18.75 MW, connected to the Complutum substation).

ACS subsidiary Iridium also purchased a 50% stake in Ignis Desarrollo Holdco Isola, which is developing solar plants Collarada (50.24 MW), Maladeta (162.56 MW), and Popa (61.12 MW), along with substations and transmission lines in Madrid. Additional projects include Acequia Solar (43.23 MW) and Vega Solar (34.98 MW) in Guadalajara, plus related infrastructure.

ACS recently created a digital and energy division and is seeking a partner for a 50% stake in the platform, valued at about EUR 1bn. The company invested EUR 315m in data centres in the first half of the year and has committed EUR 24–25 bn since entering the sector. Current projects total 2.1 GW, with additional opportunities estimated at 11 GW.

Other developments include a 150 MW data centre in La Puebla de Alfindén (Zaragoza) with Benbros, requiring an initial investment of EUR 1.254bn. Internationally, ACS has acquired Dornan (Ireland) and Fleischmann (Chile), and its U.S. subsidiary Turner is building large-scale facilities, including Meta’s campus in Louisiana and CoreWeave’s USD 6bn (EUR 5.14bn) project in Pennsylvania.

Ignis continues to develop a 30 GW pipeline globally and manages 8 GW of operational assets. Recent sales include the 50 MW Dintel plant in Valladolid to Millennium Green and the 150 MW Alcornoque Solar project in Palencia to Ibereólica Renovables.
