UNITED KINGDOM: Noventum Power eyes data centre grid conversions, project sales

Nofar Energy-backed UK solar & BESS developer Noventum Power is eying diversifying into data centre development.

Nofar, which reported its Q2 2026 results today (August 20), said its UK platform “has begun initial initiation [development] procedures for server farms (data centers), including by converting existing network connections [it owns] to network connections suitable for server farms,” without providing further details.

In addition, Noventum “is examining value overflow by selling some of the projects it has developed to third parties.” it said.

However, it also cautioned that “in view of the initial stages of the procedures, as of the date of the report there is no certainty regarding the success of the value overflow procedures, its date and conditions or the server farm initiation procedures.”

Noventum secured 20-year CfDs for three solar PV projects in the UK with a total installed capacity of 63 MW in installed capacity in Q1, at the solar clearing price of GBP 65.23 /MWh.

The portfolio comprises Barnacre Solar Farm in Preston, Hatherton Solar Farm in Nantwich, Cheshire, and Twyford Solar Farm, in Melton, Leicestershire, which will receive CfDs for 23 MW, 12 MW and 10 MW tranches of their output respectively.

The index-linked nature of the UK CfDs allocated to the portfolio “is expected to increase the attractiveness of the projects for potential buyers at the RTB stage,” Nofar said in February.

The three projects are expected to have connection dates over 2027-2028, subject to receiving approval for the connection date from the system administrator and the distribution company.

NPM’s signals database is currently tracking development progress on 18 Noventum solar and BESS projects across the UK.

Nofar’s UK BESS JV with Interland meanwhile – Atlantic Green – is continuing to progress its 300 MW / 624 MWh Cellarhead BESS project toward operation in 2028, after its 30 MW / 60 MWh Buxton project entered operation in 2024.

Nofar said today that “it is exploring bringing new partners into its existing Atlantic Green projects as well as entering new projects.”
