UNITED KINGDOM: Infinis buys consented Welsh solar and BESS project from Sirius-EcoDev
Infinis is understood to have closed the purchase of the 50 MW Oaklands solar farm and co-located battery storage project from developers Sirius and EcoDev.
The Northampton based energy group concluded the acquisition of the consented development in early October, according to company records.
The asset was taken through its planning phase by the sellers, and received approval from the Welsh Government under its developments of national significance framework in May 2024.
Oaklands is to be built on a 109-hectare site near Bonvilston in Vale of Glamorgan, west of Cardiff.
The scheme, which also will feature a 50 MW battery storage component, will connect into the local distribution network and has been given a target energisation date in early January 2025, according to data published by National Grid.
The deal for Oaklands builds on a similar acquisition made in the summer by Infinis when it bought the consented 37.3 MW Ford Oaks solar project in Devon from Taiyo Power & Storage.
A spokesperson for Infinis, in an emailed statement, said, "Infinis will be issuing an update on the project in the coming months ahead of construction commencing."
EcoDev declined to comment on the deal, while Sirius did not respond to enquiries.
