UNITED KINGDOM: Premier League tenders for long-term renewables PPA
The Premier League has launched a tender for a 10-year renewables PPA to power its operations, it is understood.
The group - advised by EY - issued an RFQ to prospective renewables suppliers in early October with a request for responses by the end of last week (October 18), according to market sources.
The company, which manages English football’s Premier League competition and exploits commercial and broadcasting rights on behalf of member clubs, is understood to be looking to source 25 GWh - 32 GWh of renewables power annually, with a supply start date over 2025-2027.
It is anticipated it will come back to pre-qualified project developers with a full RFP in mid-November.
Prices for 10-year PPAs have seen some upward pressure in recent weeks off the back of the UK’s sixth allocation round for CfDs in September, a competition which saw solar PV projects secure a strike price of GBP 50.07/MWh (in 2012 prices).
