FRANCE: RATP launches tender for up to 16-year corporate PPA
Paris transport authority RATP has launched a tender to procure a PPA with a renewables generator for a maximum duration of 16 years.
The group is seeking to purchase around 100 GWh of electricity each year under the contract, with ultimate volume potentially settling within 10% either side of this figure.
RATP – which operates transport systems in the French capital, in other French regions, and overseas – has stipulated that projects demonstrate additionality, either through being new greenfield developments or repowered existing assets.
The PPA will be structured with baseload characteristics, with the generator guaranteeing limited intermittency and an availability rate of more than 95%.
RATP will potentially sign offtake agreements with more than one counterpart and is aiming to receive first delivery of power from January 1, 2026 for an initial firm 10-year term.
The deal can then be optionally extended for two separate 36-month periods.
The transport authority is inviting interested groups to submit offers in the form of a fixed-price bid, with attached indexation formulae, and has previously specified a preference for offers at below EUR 80 per MWh.
Bidders have until December 2 to submit requests to participate in the tender process.
