UNITED KINGDOM: Schroders Greencoat fund closes latest solar acquisition from Mytilineos

Schroders Greencoat has concluded a deal for the 50 MW Defford solar project in Worcestershire from developer Mytilineos in the latest UK PV deal closed between the pair.

The investor completed the purchase of the project, formerly known as Croome Airfield solar farm, on behalf of its GBP 1.5bn Greencoat Solar Assets II fund, according to company documents.

Mytilineos itself acquired the scheme back in 2020 from original developer Flexygen, shortly after the latter took it through its planning process with Wychavon District Council.

Defford was brought online by the Greek conglomerate in summer 2023, according to data published by National Grid.

Schroders Greencoat has now acquired a handful of UK solar projects from Mytilineos, including the 17 MW Watnall project in Nottinghamshire, which was bought in October 2023.

That deal built on an earlier one for the 50 MW Gorse Lane PV plant, which is also located in Nottinghamshire.

Schroders Greencoat and Mytilineos were both contacted for comment.
